Ergonomics is the science of fitting jobs to people. Ergonomics includes knowledge about physical abilities and limitations as well as other human characteristics that are relevant to job design. Ergonomic design is the application of this knowledge to the design of the workplace which include work tasks, equipment, and environment for safe and efficient use by workers.

To assist employers to ensure a healthier working environment, MESH’s ergonomics risk assessment services include:

  1. Initial Workplace Ergonomics Risk Assessment (Initial WERA)
  2. Advance Workplace Ergonomics Risk Assessment (Advanced WERA
  3. Workplace Ergonomics Awareness Training Programme
  4. Any other Workplace Ergonomics related matters.

MESH houses a team of competent trained persons for both initial and advanced level WERA assessment lead by Dr. Ramachandran Valautham. He has a PhD in Occupational Safety & Health and is recognized as a full member of the Human Factors & Ergonomic Society Malaysia (HFEM). The team at MESH also includes Safety Engineers and Healthcare Consultants who are competent in their area of expertise. Most of our consultants have obtained the highest professional status in their respective fields including Certified Safety Professionals (CSPs), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) as awarded by American Society for Safety Engineer (ASSE) and EHS practitioners.

As per the DOSH Guidelines 2017, the Workplace Ergonomics Risk Assessment (WERA) is split into two major categories, Initial and Advanced. Each of these category will need to be carried out by persons who are competent. The Initial WERA is a more qualitative analysis of Ergonomics Risk Factors. Identifying the risk factors will then allow for measures taken to eliminate or control the risk as practically as possible and/or to carry out an Advanced WERA to quantify the risks. The Advanced WERA uses various internationally recognized techniques/methods such as Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA), Rapid Upper Body Assessment (REBA), Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) and Assessment of Repetitive Task (ART).

We take pride in our ability to accurately assess the ergonomics risk at your workplace, whilst providing practical and economically feasible recommendations and solutions for improvement.
